Patricia Killer and Franklin Ryanne

About Patricia Killer and Franklin Ryanne:
Patricia Killer
Born in Dublin, Patricia Killer worked in the tourism industry and traveled the world before finally settling in Paris to raise a family with her film producer husband. As a former guest manager for one of the top luxury boutique hotels, she is constantly on the lookout for the best addresses in the city. She worked as a public relations professional in both Dublin and Paris and graduated as a mature student with a master’s degree in English literature from the Sorbonne. She writes for various Anglophone publications including IrishCentral, co-leads the Cercle Littéraire Irlandais and enjoys organizing thematic and celebratory events in Paris. She interviews foreigners, who decided to hang their hats in the City of Light on Turning Points, her talk show on World Radio Paris. She loves chatting to them about their joys and chagrins, their adventures, successes and vicissitudes, and how they too learnt, despite the odd cross-cultural difference, to ride their own Parisian carousels.
Franklin Ryanne
Born in Arkansas to a Methodist preacher and an artist, Franklin Ryanne studied at Columbia University in New York. In his twenties, he moved to Paris to continue graduate school at the illustrious ‘Sciences Po’, or Paris Institute of Political Studies, while living in a sixth-floor walk-up broom closet without heat – described as having ‘atypical charm’ in French real estate jargon. Although he has traveled the globe, he considers Paris his first love before any other city. After graduating from Sciences Po, he worked at one of the top PR firms, advising a ‘who’s who’ of Parisian movers and shakers. He has since returned to the U.S., where he has yet to lose many of the French habits he acquired–a love of strong espresso, pink champagne and macarons, and dreaming of one day living in a French chateau.

Patricia Killer and Franklin Ryanne's novel is called, The Parisian Carousel: Franklin Ryanne, a young gay Harvard graduate and rising PR star, arrives in Paris to embark on a promising career—and to finally uncover the mystery behind the French family he’s waited a lifetime to meet. But when his taxi drops him off for a job interview in the dreary industrial suburbs, he realizes the magical city he imagined may have a darker side. Inside, unexpected circumstances lead Franklin to confront an unfathomable secret… Irish Lara, a flamboyant and long-time Paris resident, opens doors to intriguing locations, as Franklin explores the haunts of Wilde, Hemingway, and Wallis Simpson. His quest to decode the past leads to encounters with a real-life clairvoyant, a spanking party, and being drowned on a French movie set! Navigating the Mafia-style politics of his new job with a perpetual smile feels like something out of a Molière comedy. His Parisian life also includes glamorous costume parties, weekends in the countryside, and mastering the dating rituals required to seduce “ze Frenchman”—lean, sexy, philosophical culture machines! Among strangers who begin to feel like home, Franklin finally starts to belong. But as the glitter fades and truths come to light, he must decide: will he complete his quest—or be carried away by the carousel of love, longing, and reinvention?
